Welcome to the Raptor Center Hellenthal!

Raptor Center Hellenthal situated in the heart of the Eifel is one of Central Europe's oldest and largest facilities of its kind. From the tiny Eurasian pygmy owl to the huge Andean condor with its impressive wingspan of three meters, various birds of prey and owl species call the Raptor Center their home.

Several times a day, 365 days a year,

Summer: 11 a.m., 2:30 p.m, 4 p.m. Winter:     11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

the animals are presented in free flight, for visitors to experience these remarkable and majestic birds up close.

Besides the public relations work and educational activities we are highly committed to promoting nature and wildlife conservation.
Sick, injured and orphaned animals receive veterinary treatment here, where they are monitored, nursed back to health and released into their natural habitat.

We also take part in captive breeding programs for rare and endangered species with the aim of reintroducing them into the wild to protect and preserve these fascinating animals.

Condor II

Our "Santiago" rose to great fame through the many articles in the press and TV shows entitled: "The condor that would not fly!"
Santiago is nearly 200 times heavier with a wingspan that is 8 times wider than our smallest star, the Eurasian pygmy owl "Goliath"!
